We arrived this afternoon and found the hotel and room to be lovely. The room must be twice the size of the last one. After a bit of unpacking and catching our breath we walked a few blocks to find a restaurant. We ate Czech food..beef goulash, pork, slaw, potato pancakes..and tried the beer. As it was 3 and the first meal of our day!! It tasted great.
Mike, our friend Mary’s brother met us at our room with his son Marek. They told us how to manage here and looked over our plans for the next two days. We had picked all the right sights to see and will have a great adventure tomorrow. They appreciated the little gifts we brought, Oreos, kisses, a book of the great lakes and a Tshirt ..Lions, Tigers and Beers Oh MI!!
Marek then found us a restaurant that had an old wine celler with a two lane bowling alley and tables and bar way below. As the tables in the garden and inside were full, we enjoyed our interesting spot a lot. This time we tried Pilsner beer while Marek and Mike had some dinner and told us more about Prague and their life here.
A quick stop at the transportation office and we had our passes for the next three days. This will be fun to see if we can manage to get where we want to go without understanding or speaking the language. Routes are numbered and on a map so we think we can do it. Plan is to meet at 7:15 tomorrow and go to the castle district. Wish us luck!!!
Glad you made it to Prague despite the airline strike. It sounds like you have everything perfectly organized.
