Since out tickets were for 11 we took our time getting to the wharf for our Alcatraz tour via ferry. It was another beautiful day, cloudless with a cool breeze. Read chilly! We layered up but were surprised at the light dress of some others. People watching here is definitely interesting!
The tour through the prison was interesting and made me glad I didn't end up there. Cells were 5x9 and as uncomfortable as possible. Now the complex is crumbling as many buildings dated from when it was a military facility. George took some interesting photos. Some cells had painting gear that prisoners used....and some of their art was pretty good. Too bad they didn't do that instead of crime!
We enjoyed the boat ride but the climb up to the prison was an angled walk equivalent to 17 stories they said. After that we we pretty pooped, though the ice cream we had helped his feet George said!
A princess ship was docked at Pier 27 which we thought was the Caribbean but when we walked down there it turned out to be the Majestic which leaves tonight. Our ship was floating nearby ready to take the dock space. Yea!!!
We plan to return to Bordin's for chili tonight then pack up for leaving tomorrow morning. We are hoping for a quick board as since the ship was in dry dock no passengers are getting off. It should be spiffy and ready for us!!!
Sounds like a good tourist day.
ReplyDeleteI love SF. Except the sea lions smell terrible. Looks better than work though!
