First week of the New Year....

Since enjoying the New Year celebration with friends, eating Chinese food and watching fireworks at the pier, I have been working in the studio.  A goal I've set for myself is to enter more exhibits, try to sell more paintings, and paint, paint, paint.  Figuring out which paintings to enter in which shows due to eligibility and availability is a challenge.  I had to make a spread sheet to do it!!

First up in the Experimentalists exhibit at FMBAA where the group of us will display our work.  These can be from workshops, nice as those works get little exposure due to the ineligibility for major exhibits.  Below is one I did in Sue Pink's workshop last year.  You can see a bit of her influence on my brain, but work is my own.  It is called "Learning"

This painting is called "A New York Minute" and is done, I think.  I plan to enter it in the ACSWF show in February.  This is one that has gone through many phases and changes.  On Saturday I added the light areas after much deliberation.  It takes courage to do that!!

So tomorrow I'm off to the gallery to work with the group and on 3 different pieces.  It is such fun to see what the "start" turns in to when finally complete.  Some pieces evolve over a few years, yes years, and some burst forth from the start.

Next week I'll add in the plein air painting that I also love...for now I'll keep it simple!!

And I've decided I'm in my "quadrant" phase of paintings.

  1. Good wishes for your next exhibitions. You are so brave putting yourself out there.

Has your site been hacked or did you really post about watches and Rachel Ray diets? You might want to take a look.
Rick and I were talking about Florida and that there are so many light houses we haven't seen. That may be on our schedule for next year for early spring! Stayed tuned for further news on our plans!
Hugs to you and George, Karen
