Taking off....

After an early departure from FM we battled traffic and ornery GPS to finally arrive at Miami airport. Of course once we were checked in and through customs we waited a bit. One bright spot was being put into the priority lane for TSA. Maybe being elderly has some perks!!

I was very stubborn, much to Gs chagrin, and refused to leave my number one spot in line. They wanted people to check carryons. I didn't want to do that so insisted in keeping my spot. Upon boarding we saw that the bins are small. They aren't shutting!  I'm sitting with my hat too.  No room for it 

Ah well... we're off on the adventure. Going to be interesting as I couldn't even understand what the gate attendant said and he said it was English!!!!

Up to the limit!!

 I've packed except the last minute stuff and am up to the exact limit.  What a challenge!!  I really weeded out things but hopefully have what I need.  George has a small pile only so far.  We leave on Thursday!!

Adding an interesting wrinkle....a huge swarm of mosquitos are in Buenos Aires now causing havoc.  I added more Deet spray and  long pants and sleeves if needed.  And fires in Chile near Santiago where we will stop.  On this cruise there are lots of potentials for missing ports or changes but we have to just go with the flow.  It's being prepared that is the challenge!!

This is surely going to be an adventure for us...at least enough of one for me!!

Things are piling up!!!

Although the suitcases aren't out yet, A very large pile of items to pack is blooming. I've been working on our cruise around South America for a year off and on. Everything is in place now and we fly to Buenos Aries at the end of this month. Last port is Fort Lauderdale in April!!!

We are excited to go to so many new places and to see the end of the continent. The weather is varied and unpredictable so not all the ports we plan to see may be reachable.

First BA then to Iguazu Falls...can't wait!!!!
