Sand, Sun and some painting....

This crazy week started with my pastel class working on a portrait or figure on fine pastel paper.  Shelly is painting Allie...hopefully I can show you the finished painting after Monday.  She was doing a great job and her study of the figure was evident.  Everyone had fun giving it a try.

Tuesday we spent at Lover's Key beach with the "Regatta" group that PJ arranged.  You can see more photos on Facebook but here are a few of the "grannies gone wild" and the four of us.  It was a perfect beach day and we all had a great time.  It felt great to be just chillin for a change.

Mary and I went on to FMBAA for a Masterpiece and Merlot night with Patty O'Kane.  Lots of fun and great food and drinks.  Mary is very proud of her piece.  Nick couldn't believe she had done it herself..but she did.   Meanwhile Nick and George found the party going on at Waterside and had fun  and surprising a few FMBAA members by being there.

I dragged myself up on Wednesday morning to go paint at Little Hickory Beach with the outdoor painters.  Unfortunately my days with them were few this season and it shows. The painting might be a success after a bit more work, but the day was perfect and we all enjoyed it.

We did another beach day on Thursday with Guitars by the Wyndham, eating a late lunch then going back for a swim and cards at Waterside.  What a life!!   I think I'm getting a tan finally.    Friday we had to buzz up to Punta Gorda to take my painting in for the Winner's Circle show there.  Lunch at the end of Fisherman's Warf was lovely.  After a quick stop at Costco to stock up on yogurt and granola we made it home in time for cocktails on the lani.  Perfect end to a fun and busy week.

Today the contractors finally made it here  to put in our patio...Finally.  We have tried all season to get this done.  It will be a place for the grill, some pots with herbs and flowers and a nice place to sun outside.

Another busy week!

I taught pastel three days this week with my class at Big Arts and then two days at FMBAA.  Here I am demonstrating a technique to the students.  There are more photos on the FMBAA page on FB.
I do like teaching and enjoy the enthusiasm of the students who find that they love the immediacy of the medium.  Not all find they like it but at least they have tried something new.

Days will get less crazy now and we hope to spend some time at the beaches and with friends before well all head north again.  I'm looking forward to Sedona and painting some new subjects using colors I don't get much call to use.  What fun!!  A great group of artists will all stay in a B& B, trekking out each day to find a spot to paint.  Today I hope to find some hiking boots suitable for the trip in April as well as our fall trip to the western parks.
