The event was a big success this year with more artists, more paintings and more funds raised.  Everyone had a great time painting around town.  We are mentioned in the Plein Air Outdoor Painter blog with a photo of Neil's first place painting.

I was pleased to win a merit award this year and put it to good use by ordering a new pochade box in anticipation of Ireland next summer.

So now to finish the reports, wrap meeting and begin the planning for 2014!!

FMBAA keeps me busy with their shows and sales in quick secession.   Time to frame and gather for the next one.

A quick note......

No time to do much with the blog today as we need to open the tent a bit early and take advantage of the pancake breakfast crowd at the plaza.  We have a lot going on today and ending with a pastel demo by yours truly.

The gala went very well and we received many compliments on the venue, music, food, and wonderful art.  I'll post photos when I have more time.

Neil Walling won first place..well deserved.  And I received a Merit Award for the painting done at Lovers Key.!!!!!..  More later..

2013 Paint the Beach, A plein air festival in Fort Myers Beach begins this afternoon.......

After a year of planning this event, the fourth plein air festival kicks off today with our Meet n Greet for artists.  We have a goodie bucket full of treats for them and a T shirt to boot.  With a capacity roster I expect the exhibit which opens on Friday to be glorious.

I will post photos as I can, tonight for sure, and once painting myself, a few along the way.  This year I will work in pastel again and plan to be on location at Lover's Key by Big Carlos Pass.  It affords a beautiful view of the gulf, bay and marsh area as well as the beach itself.  My subject depends on what attracts me tomorrow morning.  Kathryn Miller and I will be painting buddies and plan to spend a lovely day doing what we both love.
